Providing vendors with an awareness of the principles of Integrated
Pest Management will help ensure that consumers of domestic products
have access to reliable advice and information and are able to make
responsible pest management decisions.
Certification of pesticide vendors and dispensers, as well as pesticide
applicators, is a provincial responsibility.
There is an established Standard for Pesticide Education, Training
and Certification in Canada (referred to as the National
Standard  )
that outlines the knowledge requirements for the training
and certification of pesticide vendors.
All provinces adopted the National Standard in 1995 and many have
implemented training and certification programs for store employees
who sell household pesticides.
